Youth Group

 Park Youth News

November and December held regular meetings and special events for the youth. In November, we saw TobyMac perform at the Warner. For those of you who don’t know, TobyMac was in DC Talk in the 1990s (you may remember the song “Jesus Freak”) and still puts on a high-energy, gospel-focused show. Ask a youth about it! We also had a Christmas party at the McGregor residence, participating in a white elephant/dirty grab bag exchange and competing for which team could best giftwrap a youth member (see bulletin board for pics.) Such fun!

During youth breakfast this month, we will be touching on two religions, Islam and Judaism, to gain a basic understanding of our belief similarities and differences. Moving forward, we will be learning about some of the lesser-known Bible stories, like Samson killing Philistines with the jaw bone of a donkey. Of course, we will work in some games of Bible basketball (thank you to Lou and Shari Cooney for this legacy!)

Youth group will be focusing on dating, mental health, and other subjects, discussing how to make decisions that honor God and ourselves in God’s image by thinking critically about these things, not just trying to follow the rules. We are framing these discussions with verses from James and 1 Corinthians.

As a reminder, Youth Group is Sunday from 6:30-8:00pm in the youth room (downstairs to the right), unless otherwise mentioned in the announcements or on social media. Youth Breakfast is Sunday mornings 9:15ish to 10:20. If you’re a youth 6th-12th grade, feel free to join us any time! Any questions, concerns, or requests for service can be directed to: Kacie McGregor (814) 602-5976 or klneckers@gmail.com">klneckers@gmail.com.
